Cut:

2- 4 1/2" Squares Muslin
2 - 4 7/8" Green Squares
2 - 4 7/8" Muslin Squares
2 - 4 1/2" Green Squares
1 - 1 1/2" x 7" Green Stem
1 - 4 1/2" Red Square
3 - 1 1/2" Green Squares
1 - 2" Black Square

Assembly

Take 2 - 4 7/8" Muslin Squares and 2 - 4 7/8" Green Squares. Place one green square and one muslin square right sides together then sew 1/4" on each side of center. Do this with both pieces. Then cut down the center and you have your 4 - 1/2 square triangles.

Now take the 4 1/2" red square and snowball the corners using the 1 1/2" green squares and the one 2" black square as pictured above. Lay the green or black square on the corner of the red square and sew down center then flip and iron to corner. Do the same with the other squares until you create the lady bug above. Add buttons for spots and embroider the line down the center.

Stem - One 4 1/2" square muslin and the 1 1/2" x 7" stem fabric. Fold the stem fabric sides to middle so it will be 7" long and the raw edges are folded in. Then lay raw edge side down the center of the muslin square diagonal and top stitch down.

Now lay your pieces out so you form the picture above and assemble like you would any 9 patch - sewing the top 3 squares together, then the middle, then the bottom then assemble the rows together.

NOTE: You may move the lady bug to either side of the leaf or leave in the center - up to you!

ENJOY
